The topic of the seminar was “Suppression of Human Trafficking” to inform about new legislation in this field in accordance with new guidelines laid down by the United Nations. On the 22nd May over 50 prosecutors attended. The seminar was opened by Professor Jullasin Wasankrasin. On the 5th June, a new law will come into force in Thailand regarding illegal human trafficking. Anyone who transports illegal immigrants into Thailand will be held accountable for their actions with strict penalties being enforced. Recently, 54 Burmese people were found dead in a container because of lack of oxygen whilst they were being transported across the border into Thailand.
