This well established restaurant specializes in Flemish food and has been running for 13 years under the guiding hand of owner Patrick, who has an amazing background history that would fill this page. In brief, Patrick was a Para Commando and professional boxer in his early days and was three times Professional Belgian Boxing Champion. One could very easily call Patrick “Pattaya’s Muscles from Brussels”; however, Patrick “Sir Frog” Van Den Berghe hails from the historical city of Ghent in Belgium. 

Each evening is themed with different Specialty Dishes which are worth trying for around 350 baht.  On Monday it is Osso Bucco. Tuesday offers Rump Steak d’Anvers, with meat you could cut with a spoon. On Wednesday it is a massive Mixed Grill.  Thursday is Pork Chop Hollandaise and Saturday there is Coq au Vin.   Another recommendation is the Friday special being Moules and Frites.  Plump Mussels cooked in a White Wine Sauce with a perfect traditional Belgian accompaniment, a mountain of great tasting Fries.  

There are also many delicious authentic Flemish dishes such as Flemish Pea Soup, Belgian Beef Stew and Gentse Waterzooi, which is a very tasty Flemish Chicken casserole.  There are very good and very reasonably priced snacks, salads, and meat, fish, steaks and Thai dishes available throughout the day.

The colourful decor inside this friendly and comfortable restaurant is very Flemish in character, one would be excused the illusion that one was in Belgium itself, with wooden gabled ceiling and walls decorated with antique bronze plates and a wealth of photographs of Patrick and his paragliding adventures together with many friends and celebrities.
 It seats 60 customers inside and outside in the cozy enclosed terrace area in the Arcade.

Belgian restaurants have a reputation for serving huge helpings of food and Patrick’s Belgian Restaurant is no exception.  His plates are very generously filled with portions that will satisfy even the hungriest of customers.

Now, especially for Fish and Seafood lovers, Patrick has added a special Bouillabaisse Mediterranee evening held on the first Saturday of each month.  For 500 baht you get a huge bowl filled with an assortment of mouthwatering Seafood including Tiger Prawns, Scallops, Crab Claws, Clams and Mussels plus three different types of fish all set in a delicious and aromatic Mediterranean style sauce together with chunks of wonderful crusty bread to dip into to savour the full flavour of this wonderful recipe. 

After a refreshing glass of white house wine, we started attacking this enormous meal.   Just take one’s time and enjoy the wonderful presentation.  It is very good and has become so popular with Patrick’s regulars that one now has to make a reservation in advance.  So that is an excellent recommendation.

After a short break we tackled the desserts that Patrick has to tempt one with.  We tried three: a wonderfully light textured Crepe Suzette with Vanilla Ice Cream and Orange Sauce; great tasting Profiteroles filled with Vanilla Ice Cream and smothered with a rich dark Belgian Chocolate Sauce and finally a fantastic melt in the mouth velvety smooth Belgian Chocolate Mousse.  We finished this excellent meal with a Belgian Coffee specialty; Coffee, Cointreau and something secret.   If you want a really great eating experience at a very affordable price then go along to Patrick’s Belgian Restaurant.  Open daily from 12.00am until 11.00pm.  Telephone: 038-720-300 or 081 687 2410.
