P.S.C. Golf from The Bunker Friday 26th December: Phoenix Playing a Medal round at Phoenix is usually a little easier than some of the more challenging courses around but not as easy as some of The Bunker Boys made it look today!
Dutchman Cees Bosman had the best round coming in with a fantastic eight under par nett 64 which he says is the best round of his life winning the A Flight by a mile. Tony Scambler had been optimistic when he posted his score of four under par but had to settle for second place and Mashi was also under par but had to make do with third place. In the B Flight the scores were almost as impressive. Jack Robertson winning with a six under par round with lady golfer Thea Van Spellen taking runner-up spot with a four under par round and PJ Redmond finishing with a level par round came third. Results: A Flight: 1st Cees Bosman (hcp 17) nett 64 2nd Tony Scambler (hcp 7) nett 68 3rd Mashi Kaneta (hcp 11) nett 71 B Flight: 1st Jack Robertson (hcp 23) nett 66 2nd Thea Van Spellen (hcp 23) nett 68 3rd PJ Redmond (hcp 21) nett 72 Near pin winners: Cees Bosman, Dougy Crowe, Kevin Dunne and Gerry Cooney. Wednesday 24th December: Pattana Pattana was in poor condition for this time of the year with the greens in particularly bad shape. This didn't pose a problem for Ken Ellemore who ran away with first prize today with 35 Stableford points. There was a clutch of players behind him all finishing with 32 points and it makes a pleasant change to be able to report that Gerry took second place WINNING on a count back ahead of Hugh O'Donnell in third and Jan Van Spellen in fourth. Results: 1st Ken Ellemore (hcp 18) 35 points 2nd Gerry Cooney (hcp 10) 32 points 3rd Hugh O'Donnell (hcp 23) 32 points 4th Jan Van Spellen (hcp20) 32 points Near pin winners: John Truman, Mashi Kaneta and Dougy Crowe. Monday 22nd December: Greenwood Yet again the management at Greenwood moved around the tee boxes putting the white tees where the yellow tees should be making the course shorter and throwing up some high scores. Playing Stableford the highest score of the day was scored by Jan Van Spellen in the B Flight who ran away with the pot scoring a huge 41 points ahead of Colin Stokes and Jack Robertson in second and third place respectively. It was close in the A Flight where a count back was needed to split William and Dougy Crowe. William having the better back nine holes to take the honours and third place went to Geoff Cox one point behind. Results: A Flight: 1st William Macey (hcp 11) 37 points 2nd Dougy Crowe (hcp 8) 37 points 3rd Geoff Cox (hcp 13) 36 points B Flight: 1st Jan Van Spellen (hcp20) 41 points 2nd Colin Stokes (hcp 26) 39 points 3rd Jack Robertson (hcp 23) 37 points Near pin winners: Alan Sullivan, Hai Sul Chung and William Macey capped off a great day by winning the other two.
