P.S.C. Golf From Tropical Bert's

January 20th Stableford at Phoenix Our reporter arrived latish to Bert's and most of the throng had already departed for Tuesday's golfing venue: Phoenix.

Our captain, DB, was recovering from all the last minute changes to the foursomes and the cancellations and late sign-ups.  Thankfully, the numbers of golfers have declined since two weeks ago and our captain's job is somewhat easier.  He is a real martyr, our captain, performing his task through tooth ache and upset tummy, whether he slept the night before or not.

Anyhow, out at Phoenix we scrambled about to find which tee to hit-off and what foursome to fulsome.  (By the way, this reporter has a Poetic License, duly obtained for $5.99 at grammar-rot.com).  The sky was clear except for the smog or dust which hung about and made it difficult to follow one's drive off the tee.  Our man in Oman, Paul Sharples, alluded to wayward Arabian sandstorms.  The greens were slow but the course conditions were otherwise fine, thereby probably accounting for the not-so-bad scores.

Out on the fairway of Lakes hole 8 our reporter encountered a little snake meandering along and grabbed its tail with the intention of taking it to one of his friends on Walking Street, but the caddies started jumping up and down and claiming the little cutie was venomous.  It was hard to believe because it was such a delicate friendly little serpent, but I heeded the caddies' warning and bid it adieu.

After play we returned to Tropical Bert's sans snake and our captain announced the results.  So it was that for the second consecutive week that a lady player, Conny Enz took first place in the B Flight.
