It is called Mushroom, which opened its doors on the 16th February. It didn’t take us long to find the Mushroom restaurant, as it is located right next to the Pattaya People Media Group office in Soi Day-Night Hotel, off South Pattaya Road. Already there are many returning customers who have become regulars at Mushroom; which is a good sign that promises to be a great success for its Thai owner, Khun Chinnawat Chanikanan. Besides the regular ala carte menu with recipes created by chefs Brang and Nok, there is a daily special 3 course selection of dishes (including tea or coffee) to choose from, which is excellent value with a set price of 230 baht. Mushroom specialises in extremely good all day breakfasts. One can choose either individual items ranging from 10 baht for Tomato to 80 baht for a portion of Smoked Salmon or go for one of the 20 international breakfasts, all served with Coffee or Tea and Juice, from 70 baht for French Toast and Maple Syrup to 220 baht for the Super Large English breakfast to satisfy the hungriest of customers. They serve up a good selection of freshly cut Sandwiches from 95 baht for Cheese to 160 baht for a huge Club Sandwich. Other snacks include Salads (60 baht), Burgers (100 baht), Baked Potatoes (50-90 baht), Omelettes (50-150 baht), Meat Pies and Pasties (190 baht) and Pasta dishes at 140 baht. Throughout the day one can enjoy a range of dishes all the main meats, fish and seafood from 160baht for Chicken Fillet and Fries to 300 baht for T-bone Steak with Fries. There is also a very extensive Thai menu with 40 dishes on offer, all around 100 baht. Don’t forget to leave room for one of the yummy desserts such as Apple, Blueberry or Rhubarb Pie with Custard! We sampled four dishes from the menu, including one of their excellent all day breakfasts. To start the meal we tried a very good tasting Prawn Cocktail (120 baht) served with Farmer Bread. Then it was on to one of the delicious breakfasts , the Super English Breakfast at140 baht, which is very good value for Scrambled Eggs, Bacon rashers, Sausages, Tomato, Beans and Fries. This was followed by Pork Cordon Bleu (200 baht). A generous serving of Pork fillet stuffed with Ham and Cheese and coated in a very crisp crumb crust served with Fries and Peas. One other meat dish followed and that was a quality cut of juicy T-bone Steak, Vegetables and Fries. All in all a very satisfying meal! So if you are feeling hungry and in the area, call into Mushroom, be welcomed by the friendly staff and enjoy a good quality meal at very reasonable down to earth prices! All prices quoted above include tax. Mushroom serves up a fine selection of drinks, such as bottled beers, spirits and a decent house wine at 110 baht a glass.
