Golf from the Travellers Rest
I made mention in my report of 25th July of there being no two’s made for a number of weeks at “Phoenix” and that Ted Senior had broken the spell by making one along with a couple of others in the same week and promptly named him Mr. “Two”. Unfortunately that report was missing from one leading Pattaya publication due to technical problems; for that I duly apologise.
However he seems to have stopped taking two’s (none this week) and gone even better by taking a double win, one at Pattana (Monday) with thirty-seven points and the other at Phoenix (Thursday) with an identical score. Well Done Ted!
On Monday 3rd August Pattana B&C was the venue.
A fair turnout on the day and it turned out to be a very good day and a win for Mr. “Two”
I am referring of course to Mr. Ted Senior. Who has become infamous for making two’s.
But not so this time it was a win and the first of two in the week. He found at the end of his round that he was two points up on three other players who had to fight it out with count back thirty-fives. Guy Fraser edged it with twenty on the back nine for second over Ito Akitoshi with seventeen and Eddie Townsend with fifteen. Two’s for Ray Allison and Richard Talbot.
Tuesday the 4th and a trip to Treasure Hill
We have not been there in some time so a welcome return! A moderate turnout on the day (not everybody likes this course I have never understood why) and so it was one division with places to third. I personally was not in attendance but the course must have played hard judging by the scores returned. Thirty one was the winning score and that came from Gerald Thwaites (not reported that name in some while) Three back in second was Guy Fraser at twenty-eight may we should refer to him as Mr. second, twice in two days.
Third was George Robinson who could not find the form he had on the previous Saturday and came home with twenty-seven. Two’s from Guy Fraser and Gerhard Burger.
Thursday 6th August.
Yet another visit to our regular Thursday venue of Phoenix (Ocean and Mountain) with a very good turnout of participants. Course excellent as always.
Scoring not so high this week!
Mr. Two (Ted Senior) did it again for his double of the week and again with thirty-seven points however I note there is still no change to his handicap (13) so he must be sneaking in with just the right scores. Investigation required I think.
Second and third went to count back between Alan Evans and Billy Fitzgerald (he is becoming quite a regular these days) both with thirty-six but Alan edged it with one more on the back nine eighteen to seventeen. Fourth was Mod Chaviraksa who also edged out Bob St. Aubin on count back again it was eighteen to seventeen. Bad Luck Bob!
Only the one two and that was from Matt Gibbons.
Saturday 8th August and another regular weekend visit to Green Valley.
A poor turnout for a Saturday but the quality of play was up to its usual quality.
One player decided that Thursday was a warm up for better things. I am of course referring to Billy Fitzgerald who went two better than Thursday for a great win with thirty-five and by two points over Gerhard Burger. A new player visiting with us Gerhard who took a two on Tuesday was second with thirty-three after winning the count back over Jon Lay pushing him to third spot. Only one two on the day and that was all Eamonn Murtagh’s.
