Organised beggar gang hideaway raided After gathering information gained from investigations into the plague of street beggars appearing on the streets of Pattaya and pestering tourists, a surveillance operation was put in place to probe into a residence in Soi Sawangfa in Naklua.
There at the Boom Boom House their suspicions were correct as when searched it they found 25 Cambodians, mostly young women and children hiding inside, most were disabled. On questioning, they confessed that they were a part of an organised gang run by 5 Thai men, who provided them with the room as long as they went begging along the streets and entertainment venues. Every day they would be dropped off at various sites for a period of 5 hours, and then their Thai masters would come and collect the takings, of which they were allowed to keep 100 baht to spend each day. A report was made and the people will be deported as illegal immigrants and a search is now on for the 5 Thai men who ran this human trafficking operation.
