Rescue squad rescue fishermen

Members of the Sea Rescue squad received an emergency call on the afternoon of the 16th October that a boat had sank off Wong Amat beach and two survivors were floating in the sea about 300 meters from shore.

The team sent out a rescue boat to Naklua and found the two men struggling in the sea.  They were quickly brought ashore and questioned about the incident.  The two men in their 40’s were drunk but managed to state that they had borrowed a friend’s boat to go fishing; but as they set out, a huge wave hit them and capsized the boat.  Thankfully, their shouting was heard by nearby fishermen who called the Sea Rescue for their assistance.
