Sawang Boriboon volunteers were notified on the evening of the 24th November that a Thai woman had just attempted to commit suicide by slitting her throat at an apartment on Soi Nernplubwan. The volunteers rushed to the building to find the woman in a pool of blood with a severe cut to her throat caused by a sharp cutter. Thankfully, 49 year old miss Lomtakul was still alive and was given immediate first aid to stop the bleeding and rushed to the emergency room at Pattaya Memorial Hospital. Her husband, Khun Lomtakul, aged 52, who found his wife lying on the floor of the kitchen, stated that she had a history of mental problems and has spent time in mental institutions many times in the past. Their only child is living with his parents in the countryside. That day as he was going to work as a musician at a beer bar, she complained that she did not wish to return to the mental hospital which she has been staying at recently for a few weeks. When she did not answer his call, he rushed home to find his wife had slit her throat with the cutter, with a suicide note lying beside her. He immediately called for assistance. The lady, who remains in a stable condition, will undergo further mental assessment when she recovers.
