Drunken man hurt in firework fiasco

During the wonderful goings on at Bali Hai pier on New Year’s Eve when all the entertainment was going on to ring in the New Year, one man who happened to be under the influence of alcohol, decided he wanted his own personal firework show.  The 18 year old teenager together with 8 members of his family somehow managed to get behind the Pattaya City signboard, where most of the fireworks were located.  There they settled down to a night of drunken merriment.  Then the teenager wandered off and managed to steal a firework from the stock being prepared for the main Countdown event. He rushed back with his find to his family and still holding the firework, lit it and to the horror of his family, became part of the show when it exploded in his face.  He was sent to Memorial Hospital for treatment and will be charged with theft on his release.
