Police were notified on the morning of the 4th April that a shooting incident had occurred at a convenience store near Nongyai temple. When officers arrived they were told the victim, a young pregnant Cambodian woman had been sent to Banglamung hospital with a bullet wound to her stomach. After collecting evidence, the officers went to the hospital to investigate. There they found 26 year old Khun Tia Soong who had just received an x-ray and learned that there was no danger to her with her being one month pregnant. She claimed that she and her husband were attacked by two Thai men on a motorcycle, as they were walking to the store. The passenger pulled out a gun and for no apparent reason shot her, before they drove off at speed along the road. She stated that maybe it was a case of mistaken identity. Police are treating her statement as suspicious and a full investigation is now underway to find out more about the incident.
