Tuesday morning at City Hall,Mayor Ittipol Khunplume hosted a meeting to discuss plans to develop Pattaya City.
Pattaya City is a fast-growing town and is rapidly gaining in popularity both within Thailand and internationally. The city and its businesses are a major source of revenue for the country.
During the meeting, officials introduced three different plans to develop Pattaya. The initial plan focuses on long-term goals for the years 2011 through 2020, then a strategy for the years 2011 to 2015, and a more immediate plan for growth in the next 3 years.
The long-range objective is to increase the stability of the city as a tourist destination, so an essential part of this plan is improving the image of Pattaya. This will have a two-fold benefit: a wider variety of tourists will visit the city, and job prospects for locals will increase, as there will be more work in the tourism and service industries here.
