After a recent visit to the Paradise Garden Restaurant at the Swiss Paradise Resort in Naklua, where we enjoyed a selection of their exotic meat cuisine, such as Crocodile, Emu and Kangaroo, we were invited to return and experience restaurateur Han’s latest culinary promotion – dishes all based on the superb delicate tasting – Green Asparagus! Throughout June and into July, besides the normal repertoire of fine tasting dishes, one can delight in an arrangement of Appetizers and Main Course dishes, all including Green Asparagus as part of the recipe. Asparagus is a great source of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. This ‘wonder’ veggie has been used over the centuries as both a vegetable and also in medicine – apparently it is good for the kidneys, due to its diuretic properties.
The special promotion at Paradise Garden includes is a choice of six tempting Appetizers, such as Asparagus Cream Soup (90 baht) and Pancake with Smoked Salmon and Asparagus (160 baht). There are 4 Main Course dishes incorporating the little green healthy veggie, and all at extremely good prices from 245 baht for Asparagus with Pork Fillet and Mushroom Sauce to 360 baht for Asparagus with Rock Lobster Thermidor. Fortunate for us, we were treated to gorge on all the Asparagus related dishes, beginning with the absolutely delectable tasting Asparagus Soup. A beautiful clean tasting light creamy soup with a garnish of chopped Asparagus tips! A perfect starter! We then sampled the light crispy Pancake (Blini style) with tasty Smoked Salmon and Asparagus Tips. This was followed by three Ham based dishes – a first class flavorsome Smoked Black Forest Ham with Asparagus and Hollandaise Sauce (160 baht), Asparagus with Cooked Ham (95 baht) and Asparagus with a wonderful tasting Spicy Ham with Mayonnaise (95 baht). To round off the Appetizers we sampled deliciously simple traditional Asparagus served grilled with Vinaigrette Sauce (95 baht). It was then on to the Main Dishes, and there are four to choose from. Asparagus goes perfectly well with tender Pork fillet especially so with the subtle tasting Mushroom Sauce accompaniment. Likewise, and tasting equally as good, was the Chicken Saltimbocca style served with Asparagus (265 baht). Fish and Seafood seem to marry well with this delicious vegetable, especially when put together with sweet and juicy Rock Lobster served Thermidor style with a robust Cheese topping (360 baht); and Fillet of delicate tasting Sole with a tempting White Wine Cream Sauce (285 baht). So, get along to the Paradise Garden with its exotic tropical plant setting and enjoy this brilliant seasonal vegetable, Asparagus included in Appetizers and Main Dishes, all put together with the creative expertise of Hans and his staff.
