This is one guy you don’t want in the neighborhood. On Tuesday afternoon, detectives in Huay Yai arrested Mr. Thana Kerdtong, known as Pong, aged 27. There was a warrant issued for his arrest on a charge of robbery with a gun and threats made to a 17-year old female victim. According to the police, Pong had threatened the victim with a weapon if she didn’t return 1000 baht she had borrowed from him. Fearing for her life, she immediately gave back the money. Apparently Pong had done this before, as two weeks previously he slashed a man named Thanapon Kongkanoy with a knife and stole his motorcycle when the man failed to repay a loan. The victims even reported that Pong kept a woman caged in his home as a sex slave and beat her regularly, but they dared not report him as he was said to have powerful gang connections to a man named Ake, widely known in Pattaya. Police put Pong under arrest at Huay Yai, and confiscated a loaded gun and a stolen motorcycle. He strenuously denied all accusations against him. Detectives have urged the victims to press forward with the charges.
