On Tuesday afternoon, at Pattaya City Hall, a press conference was held by the Deputy Mayor of Pattaya Mr. Weerawat Kahkai to publicize the Buddha statue construction campaign which will be set up to gather donations from people, in order to construct the Por-Luang-Art-Hall at the Sattahip Navy Base. “Por-Luang” in Thai means the king.
The hall, will exhibit the 84 paintings of his Majesty the King’s works and activities by the “Tu-Lee-Thai Club” for the celebration of 84 years of King Rama 9. These paintings are now his Majesty the King’s personal property and with his permission, they can be exhibited in Por-Luang Art Hall in Satta-hip Navy Base for public view.
The Buddha statue will be named “ Par-Putta-Burapa-Parisut” which has been designed by Mr. Teerapan Lorpaiboon who will supervise the construc-tion of the statue as well. This Buddha statue will represent the “Prosperity” of the East Coast and will be blessed by a Buddhist ceremony for the power of Lord Buddha to stay with the statue and protect the prayers of those who pray there, when it is completed.
