Because of the report of a big increase in the number of Dengue fever cases breaking out all over Thailand, government departments are taking no risks to prevent an outbreak of the dreaded dengue fever and malaria occurring in their area. Therefore, on Monday, Mr. Araya Gaewkongtam, Director of Nongprue Municipality’s Public Health department arranged a special task force to organise a Dengue Fever Prevention Programme, going out to various locations to help eliminate the spread of mosquito infestations. Where nests have been reported, the team arrives to begin the programme of spraying the contaminated areas, mostly drainage systems, with chemicals. On this occasion, it was an area in Soi Nern Plub Wan, where locals were advised to be extra vigilant in preventing water sources, such as local ponds, drains, etc., turning into possible breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
