The Marriott Hotel and Spa on Second Rd welcomed the US Navy on Saturday by hosting the “Black Box Cooking Competition” featuring chefs from each of the vessels docked at Laem Chabang port. The hotel welcomed the crew members from the USS George Washington, the USS Cowpens, the USS McCampbell and the USS John S. McCain to Pattaya.

This competition was to find the best chef’s team from the navy ships, using ingredients contained in a black box from the judges, one box per team. The cooks did not know the contents of the box beforehand. The judges evaluated each dish based on taste, presentation and style, cooking technique and creativity. Everyone enjoyed the competition—especially the lucky ones who got to eat the culinary creations afterward.
