Special ceremony at Vegetarian Festival rids people of bad vibes
As part of the Vegetarian Festival every year, the Sawang Boriboon Foundation holds what is called a “Karma Clearance Ceremony” or in Thai, Sa: Dor: Kror: The ritual helps Buddhists who have been through bad times in their to be blessed by the power of the angels for the coming year. It is believed that when one hits a certain age, bad karma catches up with you, and must be cleared. On Monday afternoon, Buddhists gathered at the Foundation headquarters to participate in a “karma clearance”. White clothes were required for the ceremony, which follows stricter precepts than the general Vegetarian Festival. Along with prayer and ….Participants took part in ethical merit-making activities such as freeing turtles, birds, eels etc. All creatures freed during the ceremony were to be released in a special area of the Yannasangworn temple located in Huay Yai area later.
