Arrest Assignment For Intellectual Property Rights Center
On Tuesday night, a team of police supervised by Pol. Lt. Col. Chaiyadit Panna- the Deputy Superintendent of the Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center, Region 2, entered the “Pattaya Plaza” Area located near the Dolphin Roundabout, North Pattaya. The officers came to investigate Copy Right Violations by vendors and managed to arrest 2 offenders, who were Mrs. Pornpimon Saengaew, age 36, who was selling copies of famous international football club sport clothes. She had over 100 pieces, each worth 450 -500 Baht, and Mr. Saengchai Lekgerdpon, age 32 originally from Trang province, with copies of 50 brand name watches such as Gucci, and Rolex, each piece priced at 500 – 1,000 Baht.
Over 300 pieces of trademark knock-offs were left behind by other vendors when the police arrived. The estimated value of these was over 200,000 Baht, all of which were impounded by the police.
The 2 offenders were charged with “1) Selling products with fake trademark, 2) copying a trademark registered in the kingdom and 3) copying a trademark registered outside the kingdom, and sent for legal processing.
