Meeting to Clear Problems With Illegal or Overstayed Visas
On Tuesday morning, at the Immigration Police Station, the Deputy Mayor Ronnagit Ekasing was invited to join a meeting held by Army Lt. Col. Gamon Prajuabmore – the Chairman of the Evaluation Committee for Illegal Entry. The meeting was also attended by Pol. Col. Atisawit Gamonrat – the Superintendent of the Immigration Police Station and a Committee to find the best solutions and procedures to deal with foreigners staying in the kingdom illegally, especially suspicious persons who might be terrorists or criminals.
The meeting focused on the relevant procedures involving foreigners, including immigration services, visa extensions, and investigations, as explained in the Immigration & Human Trade Laws and other relevant Criminal Statutes. The most important topics were the gathering information about foreigners crossing the border who act suspiciously, those with any connection to Terrorists, and criminals who use Thailand as a hideout or commit felonies in the kingdom.
Other countries often obstruct Thailand’s efforts to get evidence and supporting documents regarding these aliens, which often delays investigation procedures in Pattaya. Therefore, the International Information Center has been established to aid the police in obtaining arrest records and other information. The Royal Thai Police intends to create a Network with other sectors inside the Bureau, to improve their database of possible suspects.
