On Monday afternoon, at Pattaya City Hall, the Mayor Ittipol Khunpleum in cooperation with the Nongprue Municipality represented by their Mayor Mr. Maai Chaiyanit, Mr. Niti Konggrood from TAT, Mr. Wittaya Khunpleum the Chairman of Chonburi Provincial Administration and relevant authority including the representatives from Poeng Municipality and the Former Minister of Tourism and Sport Mr. Sontaya Khunpleum presented as an Honorable Guest, all joined in the Press Conference to publicize the “2010 Traditional Long Boat Competition at which the winner will received the trophy given by Her Royal Highness Princess Pra Teparat Ratchasuda and the trophy from Her Royal Highness Princess Somsawalee.
It’s 10th competition and every year has been successful and people have been waiting for this years competition as there will be more competitors than ever. The competition starts on November 20until 21 at the Mabprachan Lake. There will be 3 categories 1) Small long boat with 30 oarsmen, 2) Big long boat with 55 3) International long boats with a crew of 12 . Eight teams are competing from, Burma, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Macao, Hong Kong,Taiwan and Thailand
There will also be Traditional local games and competitions in the same area of the races to preserve the traditions for the next generations of Thais and to introduce them to foreigners such as “Long Drum Music Performances, “Ta Graw Kicking and many more. The meeting is to make certain that this year will be more successful than ever.
