Russian Business Man drugged and robbed of over 10 million baht
On Tuesday morning, the Pattaya Police were called to investigate a “Robbery” at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort. A team of police under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent Pol. Lt. Col. Trataip Tupanit, arrived at the scene and found that the robbery had happened on floor 7 of the hotel, and the victim was Mr. Valerii Gribunov, aged 46, from Russia.
Mr. Valerii stated that he went out to enjoy the nightlife on the Walking Street, and brought 2 ladies whom he met in Ziren Bar back to the room with him, agreeing to pay 1,500 Baht for each lady, which he deemed cheap enough for a whole night of fun. Both ladies were asked to have their ID’s copied at the Reception, and everything went along smoothly until they were in the room.
While the gals were preparing to give their services to Mr. Valerii, one of them served him a glass of water, which Mr. Valerii drank. A while later, he became disoriented and lost consciousness, and upon awakening in the morning, he discovered that the safe had been opened. A Ruby ring, a gold and diamond watch, a gold chain and bracelet, and other valuables worth over 10 million Baht were stolen from the safe and, naturally, there was no sign of the 2 ladies.
The police discovered that the victim is in the real estate business, and quite wealthy. The copied ID’s of course, turned out to be fakes, just like the affections of these street hostesses. Further investigations will be conducted, starting with the CCTV footage from the hotel.
