The Sawang Boriboon was called for assistance on Friday evening to help with an accident on Route 36 at the Khao Mai Kaew Intersection. 27 people were reported injured, with 3 of them in a coma. The misfortune happened to a tour bus of Donna International Ltd, which was carrying a full load of passengers from Vietnam, to sightsee in Pattaya and surrounding areas.
At the scene, the tour bus was found wrecked and upside down, lying on the side of the road. Not far from the bus was a bronze Honda Civic, whose driver had minor injuries. The driver of the tour bus stated that the bus was coming from Bangkok heading to a seminar at the Royal Palace Hotel in Rayong. At the place of the accident, a car coming up from behind at extreme speed tried to pass the bus at close range, then ducked back into the same lane jamming the front of the bus, and causing the bus driver to brake suddenly and lose control of the bus.
The injured passengers were taken to Banglamung, Pattaya Memorial and Bangkok Hospital Pattaya for treatment, and more investigations will follow.
