Tandoori House

It is a fact that Pattaya has an ever growing number of outstanding Indian restaurants scattered around town. One such is the Tandoori House located on Second Road, opposite Mike Shopping Mall. Originally, restaurateur Mr. Jabangir Hossain opened the Tandoori House during 2007 in nearby Soi 12 off Beach Road. Since moving about 2 years ago the new Tandoori House is still delighting customers with an excellent range of appetizing authentic Indian and Thai cuisine. Like the original restaurant, there are no exotic decorations that one would normally associate with classical Indian restaurants; the emphasis here is on the quality of the food. The menu is extremely wide-ranging with a large range of Thai dishes, especially fish and seafood recipes, most under 200 baht. But, of course, the signature dishes are classic Indian recipes with fragrant spices and herbs used to create unique and subtle flavours and aromas for dishes from all over the Indian sub-continent. With mouth-watering appetizers such as Onion Bahji, Samosas (90 baht) and spicy Pappadams (20 baht) they offer an excellent selection of traditional recipes to choose from, with Meat, Fish and Vegetarian Tandoor oven style or Karhai style dishes: Tikka, Masala, Korma, Biryanis and fiery hot Vindaloo Curries ranging from 120 baht to 350 baht.
First to arrive was a North Indian yoghurt drink; an energizing glass of Lassi (70 baht) to whet the appetite.
Together with tasty Garlic Naan Bread (60 baht) were three Meat dishes: Butter Chicken (180 baht), being delicious morsels of Chicken breast in a delicately fragrant spicy Butter Sauce. Chicken Tandoori (280 baht), tender plump breast of Chicken cooked in the Tandoor oven. We then sampled three Vegetarian side dishes. A tasty Vegetarian Korma (130 baht) together with a very good Palak (Saag) Paneer (180 baht), which is a mild tasting combo of Spinach and Indian Cottage Cheese blended well with a variety of spices and rich green sauce. This was followed by Aloo Gobi (130 baht) – a very popular side dish of Potato, Cauliflower and Turmeric spice mixture. Finally, back to the meat and the grand daddy of all dishes a whopping big Meat Platter (650 baht) – filled with an assortment of Chicken, Prawns and Mutton cooked in different styles - delectable! There you have it, for a good quality meal, especially if you crave traditional Indian cuisine, then visit The Tandoori House. Prices quoted include all taxes. Open every day from 11.30am until 1am. Telephone: 038 427 102.
