On Wednesday morning, Chonburi’s Governor Mr. Wichit Chatpaisarn escorted over 200 officials from the Administrations and Security Services of Chonburi into Chonburi’s Central Prison. They came to inspect the premises, following various news reports that drug trafficking by some prisoners had been uncovered. The Inspection revealed that the prison was a kingdom for some prisoner drug traffickers. 140 mobile phones, 20 Yah Bah tabs and drug paraphernalia were found, as well as over 50 sharp tools which could be used as weapons in the Maintenance Department of the jail.
Even though the statistic showed the total amount of Yah Bah tablets found Chonburi Prison of this year from January to August were 7,864 tablets and there have been 414 mobile phones impounded from prison however, the mafia and drug trafficking operations have not seemed to decrease which the Chonburi Governor promised to look into this issue and all involved officers will face charges if proved being involved with the gangs.
