The fantastic Marriott Resort & Spa situated on both Pattaya Second Road and Beach Road is a tropical haven in the heart
of the amazing entertainment action of Pattaya. The luxury Marriott Resort faces Pattaya Bay with the beach just minutes away and encompasses its own shopping mall, restaurants and excellent entertainment outlets. The resort buildings are designed around the beautifully laid out extensive 8 acres of lush gardens, enabling guests to find privacy, luxury and tranquility. There are 5 excellent onsite restaurants at the Marriott Resort and one of them is the Garden Cafe. During the day this elegant and spacious restaurant, which seats 88 guests, is open for breakfast, lunch and ala carte dinner, serving very interesting international and Thai cuisine. During one evening this week we went along to the Garden Cafe to sample the amazing buffet selection delightfully called the “Night Market Buffet”. Each month the buffet has a special promotion and this month it is presenting the culinary deli ghts of seafood dishes, with an especial emphasis on Crab. One is spoiled for choice as the extensive food stations combine a wonderful array of freshly prepared dishes. To start (if one wishes) there is a great selection of appetizers, salads, (especially a delicious Caesar Salad, complete with authentic anchovy cream sauce and parmesan shavings), cold cuts of meats, salamis, hams and carpaccio (very thinly sliced dry cured raw beef). There is an excellent selection of Sushi and Sashimi (very fresh thinly sliced raw seafood and fish delicacies, including smoked salmon, tuna and squid). Then to the meat and fish dishes all cooked to order, such as an assortment of skewered BBQ meat kebab with a sweet and spicy relish accompaniment. There were juicy lamb cutlets with rosemary, baby back pork ribs, succulent seared scallops and a superb salmon steak infused with herbs and lemongrass and cooked in a banana leaf, leaving a fragrant and succulent tasting piece of fish, garnished with a nut encrusted mashed po tato croquet. The seafood station was sensational with an assortment of huge tiger prawns and shrimp and awesome size crab claws to feast on. There is a brilliant Pasta Station display and we tried a slice of Lasagne, (layered pasta sheets with a very tasty minced beef, tomato and cheese sauce filling). Not forgetting the Thai dishes such as the popular Tom Yum Kung, the list could go on and on. Leave room for the wonderful desserts of cakes and pastries on offer, including an unusual chocolate fountain to serve oneself from – dipping fruit pieces into the indulgent chocolate sauce, Wow! Even though one serves oneself to the delights on offer, the attentive staff (headed by Khun Michael) offers a 5 star treatment making sure empty plates are removed and new napkins replaced with each dish. Do go along and try this grand buffet for yourself. It is excellent value eat as much as you want for 750 baht (1349 baht with unlimited wine). The Garden Cafe้ Buffet is open from 6.00pm until 10.00pm. Telephone: 038 412 120.
