Moom A Roi Restaurant

During one evening last week we went to the very popular

Moom A-Roi Restaurant which serves some of the best and freshest seafood in the area.

Moom A-Roi has four branches around Thailand; one in Bangkok, another in Sriracha and two in Pattaya.      The Naklua branch which is located on Pattaya-Naklua 83/4 Moo 2, Naklua Soi 4 has a spectacular view of Pattaya Bay.   It is managed by Khun Janthana Petch Mahanee, who oversees the presentation of the excellent authentic Thai styled cuisine to be enjoyed by its many regular customers.   .  The 150 table restaurant is situated right on the Naklua beach front and has a natural and relaxing atmosphere where customers enjoy delicious food and the ambience of the beach.  In fact, it is quite a romantic location, especially if it is a moonlit and cool night.  The Moom A-Roi restaurant has a great selection of Thai (and some Japanese) traditional dishes, different meats and vegetable recipes; but its specialty is for producing very fresh seafood; with some such as lobs ter, prawns and crab kept in eight water tanks for customers to choose and the chef to cook to order from the extensive menu.

The restaurant chef recommended us to try a selection of specialty dishes.  In Thai tradition, when a dish is cooked it is served immediately, so there was no particular order to their appearance on the table.

We tried Kang Som which is a delicious Sour and Spicy Fish Soup with vegetables including cha-om (a traditional Thai vegetable) fried with egg and Liew- Siew river fish fillets and water mimosa.  It produces a wonderful aromatic combination of sweet, sour and slightly salty taste quite unique to Thai food.

Another dish that appeared was a Stir Fried Sea Food Mixture of fish and seafood, such as mussels, squid, with kaempferia (a type of Thai ginger) panduratum (white mushroom), garlic and a lot of chili.  This dish is very spicy so be warned, but eat a spoonful of rice if the heat is overpowering and it will balance the taste sensation and release the subtle flavours of the food.

Then came a very colourful Deep Fried Fish Fillet with shredded mango and spicy sauce which was mixed with sliced chilies and lime juice and tasted delicious.  This was accompanied by a Steamed Fish Fillet with garlic and lemon and ginger.

In quick succession came a dish of freshly produced Deep Fried Mantis Prawn with garlic; followed by wonderful plump River Prawns that had been simply stir fried with black pepper and tasted great.   Included in this excellent banquet was a fresh Spicy Seafood Soup, a dish of Stir Fried Squid with Salted Eggs and pepper and a Spicy Shrimp Salad with a chili and citrus sauce. Not forgetting a mountain of excellent steamed rice. The food at Moom A-Roi is great value for money with dishes to suit all pockets.  It is very popular with Thai locals.  The friendly staff is very welcoming to all, especially foreigners and will assist and recommend choosing dishes from the menu.  The restaurant is open everyday between 11.00am-23.00pm.  Telephone: 038-223-252.
