The Mercure Hotel Pattaya is a real discovery, being a delightful retreat in the heart of Pattaya, offering French flair and chic with super surroundings, plus equally defined cuisine in their three charming restaurants. Be it outside at the Cappucino Italian Terrace Restaurant offering Italian food and a variety of Tapas in a pleasant relaxed atmosphere that blends perfectly with its open plan location alongside the swimming pool and garden area. Or inside at the M Cafe serving Thai and Chinese cuisine, or the Bistro presenting a selection of international dishes, plus of course a number of popular French recipes. We settled for the Bistro! We were greeted by our host, Jacques, Director of Food and Drink, and his team of skilled staff who take care of the details in running the restaurants effortlessly and professionally. Not forgetting executive chef Natawut (Vut) who creates all the stimulating dishes on the Mercure widespread menus. Bistro presents homemade Soups at 140 baht, Appetizers such as Mussels and Clams Crouton (180 baht) or Parma Ham and Melon at 280 baht. Sandwiches and Light meals such as top quality Burgers and Fries (220 baht), Fish and Chips, Pasta including Lasagne at 240 baht and freshly made Pizzas from 220 baht are available all day. Main course dishes include favourite Meats, for example Pork Chop at 290 baht, Rib Eye Steak (420 baht) and Fish such as Salmon Fillet en Papillote (cooked in parchment casing) at 360 baht. We began the meal with a few of the entree dishes. Assorted Tapas (from 99 baht) served French Style; with a selection of great tasting Ham, Salamis, Rillette style Pork Pate, Olives and Pickles. A Combo Platter with Chicken Satay, Spring Rolls of Smoked Duck and Prawns at 180 baht. All this followed by fresh and tasty Tomato, Mozzarella and Basil Salad and Mixed Salad with a Balsamic Dressing. We then went on to a very good tasting classic Cannelloni dish (220 baht), oozing with Spinach and Cheese and drizzled with Parmesan. The main Meat course was a first class dish of extremely tender Lamb Cutlets and fresh seasonal Vegetables (420 baht). For Fish we chose a moist and full of flavour Salmon Steak (220 baht). This delightful fine tasting meal ended, of course, with some tempting Desserts. Yummy Chocolate coated Profiteroles served with New Zealand Ice Cream (150 baht) and melt in mouth creamy Blueberry Cheesecake (140 baht). There is a wide selection of international wine available such as 990 baht for French Beaujolais Village 2008 or Cotes de Rhone to French Medoc 1999 at 1,650 baht. All in all the Mercure’s signature restaurant Bistro located on Soi 15 off either Second Road or Soi Buakhao offers top quality cuisine at very reasonable prices. The Prices quoted above exclude all Taxes. Bistro is open every day from 11am to 11pm. Tel: 038 425 050.
