On Thursday 3 Nov. 2011 Khun Wichit Chartpaisit, Chonburi’s Governor, went with a group to visit flood victims at the Air and Coastal Defense Command in Sattahip. They presented 150 sets of basic necessities to Vice Admiral Choompol Wong-wei-kin, the Commander of the Disaster Relief Center of the First Naval Area Command. Then they gave donations to Rear Admiral Nop-pa-dol Su-pa-korn, the Commander of Air and Coastal Defense Command, to assist another 153 flood victims evacuated from the Bangkok area, who are staying at the Naval Shelter. The Governor’s group was greeted by Sattahip’s Chief District Officer, Khun Shine-Chan Iem-ja-roen, and local officials.
Also, a representative of the PTT (Gasoline Company) presented 300 basic needs packages, as well as Khun Som-wang Iem-dee, the deputy Mayor of Bang-sa-ray District, who brought goods and medicines to the evacuees. When the flooding hit central Thailand and Bangkok, Chonburi province then mobilized forces from all sectors to support and assist the flood victims, and will continue helping them until the situation is back to normal. The evacuees are eager to help as well, and ask to collaborate in solving the problems caused by the massive floodwaters.
