The menu is small but covers all tastes. With Starters from 150 baht for Shrimp Cocktail to 420 baht for a Cold Cut platter (enough for two) with imported meat, sausages and cheese. Pasta at 245 baht for Carbonara or Bolognese or the house specialty Pasta Akvavit (265 baht) Tagliatelle with Pork fillet, Shrimps in a creamy Chili and Curry Sauce. There are regular Burgers from 220 baht to 255 baht for the Akvavit special with Bacon, Cheese and Jalapeno Chili Pepper, all served with Fries. Homemade Soup is available, such as French Onion (160 baht) and Creamy Lobster and Crab Bisque at 275 baht. Talking of Steaks, Akvavit offers a good selection of Australian Beef Steak such as Sirloin at 695 baht and Rack of Lamb at 710 baht. Plus another house specialty, the French classic Chateaubriand Provencal (890 baht), a whole roasted Beef fillet for two people! Another specialty is the assortment of Meat Kebabs, served at table on long skewers, with marinated chunks of Chicken or Pork (420 baht), Beef fillet at 450 baht and Lamb fillet at 690 baht. For fish lovers, dishes include unusual types such as Butter Fish (390 baht) served with Saffron and Lobster Sauce, or Snow Fish (770 baht) poached in White Wine and served with Saffron Sauce. Authentic Thai dishes are available from 135 baht for Fried Rice and choice of meat (Chicken, Beef, Pork or Seafood) to 495 baht for whole fried Sea Bass with Garlic and Pepper.
We began the meal with two typical Swedish style dishes, Lime and Pepper marinated Salmon (190 baht), and the S.O.S., with two types of marinated Herring (220 baht) traditionally served with Skagen (Shrimps) in a Dill Mayonnaise, Egg, Sour Cream and boiled Potatoes. Both delicious, especially the Herring in a mild Curry Sauce!
For the main course, it was a tempting selection of meat dishes. Traditional Swedish Meatballs (295 baht), served with mashed Potato and Lingonberries. This was followed by a house specialty, called Elephant Ear (360 baht), being a very large thin slice of Beef Steak flavoured with Merlot Wine Sauce and served with Potato Au Gratin (melted Cheese and Cream topping). Another time honoured Swedish dish appeared in the form of a Planked Steak (490 baht), a wooden platter topped with a prime juicy Beef fillet, surrounded by Duchesse Potato, Bearnaise Sauce and Vegetables. Finally, we tried Chicken Kebab (420 baht), flavorsome chunks of lemongrass marinated breast of Chicken. Delicious! Of course, one cannot leave you without mentioning the tempting Desserts on offer. Go for the excellent Creme Brulee (160 baht) and Meringue Suisse (170 baht), mixed layers of Meringue, Vanilla Ice-Cream, Whipped Cream and Chocolate. Scrumptious!
