A meeting took place on Friday with representatives from the Poultry Promotion Association of Thailand to discuss the current low cost of eggs and the affect it is having on egg producers throughout the country. Apparently, the cause is that large companies are importing more and more chickens and eggs, resulting in some domestic companies losing out financially. According to the Association, Thai people do not eat enough eggs, so a campaign is to be set up to promote the consumption of eggs. At the same time, they want the government to import fewer eggs from overseas so that domestic companies can recover and reap the rewards with a sunny side up in prices.
