As part of the Chinese New Year celebrations, a number of official duties were performed around town by various departments at Pattaya City Hall. One such was a paying respect ceremony at the statue of the Prince of Chumphon located near the radio station on top of Buddha Hill in South Pattaya. Attending the ceremony were Deputy Mayor Ronnakit Aegasing and other councilors from City Hall. Admiral Prince Abhakara Kiartivongse, Prince of Chumphon, was a son of Rama V, who modernized the 19th and 20th Century Siamese Navy and is regarded as the Father of the Royal Thai Navy and protector of fishermen.
