Lindas Restaurant

Not having visited Linda’s in a while, we thought it time to return and find out what’s new at this stylish and innovative international restaurant on Thappraya Road in Jomtien.  This was our third visit and as usual it turned out to be another enjoyable top quality eating experience.

Linda’s is one of the top restaurants in town offering a wide range of international dishes plus specialty Norwegian recipes courtesy of Restaurateur and namesake, Linda Eiksund.

Now into its 6th year, Linda’s presents unashamedly graceful decor that compliments this wonderful restaurant.  Just completed is a new frontage and outside terrace eating area for guests to leisurely dine al fresco.

So what is new?  Linda’s has always presented a number of outstanding musical events, but now live shows are held every Friday and Saturday evening with professional international artists.

As expected, the service at Linda’s remains faultless, and now with musical interludes, it all adds to an outstanding dining experience.

Throughout the day the menu caters to all tastes, with Breakfasts (all served with tea/coffee and juice) from 99 baht for Egg and Bacon to 180 baht for Norwegian Breakfast with Smoked Salmon, Caviar, Waffles and Cheese.  Lunch dishes are available from 11am to 5pm – a free choice at 160 baht of dishes such as Swedish Hash, Pancakes with Pork, or Norwegian Beef Soup.  Snacks range from 140 baht for Baguettes, Omelets from 230 baht, Burgers (260 baht) and German Sausages (265 baht). Pasta dishes start at 295 baht for Spag Bol; with Salads around 250 baht, and Taco dishes (390 baht).  House specialties are the Norwegian Open Sandwiches: such as Leverpostei with Pate, Bacon, Beetroot and Gherkin (230 baht) or 280 baht for Shrimps and Mayonnaise. Each week, Linda offers a 3 course set dinner at 430 baht; this week’s offering was Norwegian Smoked Salmon, Beef Steak and Creme Caramel.  There is a daily Norwegian specialty dish around 320 baht for Boiled Beef and Onion Sauce to 390 baht for Salted Lamb and Potato Dumplings.

Recent additions to the menu are a range of unique Pizzas from 295 for Green Pizza to 395 baht for Sailors Pizza with Shrimps, Green Shell Mussels and Squid.

Appetizers begin at 180 baht for Chicken Satay to 280 baht for a Herring Plate.

There are authentic Thai recipes such as classic Pad Thai (280 baht) and Tom Yam Khung (260 baht).

Main course Meat recipes start at 380 baht for Wienerschnitzel to 685 baht for Australian Rack of Lamb.

For Fish and Seafood aficionados try Norwegian Fish Soup (160 baht), a delightful tasting Cream Soup made with Norwegian Salmon.  Another seafood favourite is Poached or Baked King Lobster (180 baht per 100 grams), and from the Fish section, tasty Bacalao (Salted Dry Cod) dishes at 595 baht.

Thus to tasting time!  We began with the Herring Plate, with four different styles of tasty morsels of marinated Herring served with brown bread and butter.   Followed by extremely good Norwegian Smoked Salmon, and Bacalao Fritters (230 baht), being Cod and Potato Croquettes, a soft creamy filling with light crispy coating. The star appetizer were the fresh Oysters (65 baht each), imported extra large fleshy delights accompanied with Balsamic Vinegar, Garlic and Lemon.

Then, it was onto the main course!  Two Mixed Grills –Seafood, the other Meat!   The Seafood grill (485 baht) is a seafood lover’s treat with generous portions of Rock Lobster, Tiger Prawn, Fillets of Red Snapper, Cod and Norwegian Salmon plus New Zealand Mussels served with Saffron Rice.  Likewise, the bountiful Meat Grill (465 baht); Lamb Cutlets, Beef and Pork Steaks and German Sausage, with Baked Potato, Pineapple, and Bearnaise Sauce.

Finally, we found room for Linda’s ‘Sweet Temptations’, Norwegian Hot Apple Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream (165 baht),  and a super light Cheesecake (130 baht) which was spot on to round off this excellent meal.

Linda’s has a fine collection of liqueurs, cocktails, beers and wines and provide excellent Italian house wine at 760 baht half litre, 195 baht a glass!

So visit Linda’s, at 315/177-180 Thappraya Road, near Hanuman Statue - and enjoy a truly epicure eating experience.
