To help promote the reconstruction of Pattaya Beach, which is undergoing a major sand recovery exercise, Pattaya Mayor Ittipol Khunplume invited a number of famous lady tennis players to take part in a sand filling exercise.  The ladies, who are currently competing in the PTT Pattaya Open at the Dusit Thani Resort in North Pattaya, agreed and helped the workers cover 35 meters of sand in the first stages of increasing the beach area. The project is starting at North Pattaya Beach near the Dusit Thani, which will eventually move further down the strip towards Walking Street.   The project has an estimated budget of 380 million baht to improve and bring the beach back to its former glory.
