Click for Video On Sunday afternoon, the Democrats Abroad Thailand, Eastern Seaboard Chapter,
held its annual meeting to elect officers and discuss the 2012 elections in the United States. The Democrats gathered at the Media Café on Soi Day Night, to listen to Peter DuPont, Chairman of Thailand’s chapter of Democrats Abroad. Peter discussed the procedures for voting in the US elections while living overseas, and emphasized that any American citizen who wishes to vote this year should go to the website, http://www.votefromabroad.org/ . This is a non-partisan website that directs the voter to his county registrar’s office, where they can submit an application for an overseas ballot. The overseas vote of the Democratic Party amounts to a 51st state during the election process, and the recent tight elections in the US should remind every citizen that every vote counts. By unanimous consent, the DAT-ES elected Bobby Brooks as Chairman, Loran Davidson as Vice-Chairman, Bud Kanitz as Secretary, and Leonard Levine as Treasurer/Special Events Coordinator. The Democrats also had a surprise visitor, Mr. Nathan Russo. He is a Democrat from the state of Georgia, who is running on the ballot in Georgia for the U.S. House of Representatives, District One. After much discussion and many procedural questions asked and answered, the gathering moved on to an all-American BBQ of hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad and ice cream. Yummy!
