On Tuesday morning, a team of over 200 officers from the Banglamung Police Station led by the Superintendent Pol. Col. Somneuk Jangaid, assisted by the Deputy Superintendent In charge of Suppressions Pol. Lt. Col. Supachat Piammanat and also the Administration Officials, Pattaya City Hall Police called Tesakit Police, Pattaya and Or. Bpor. Por. Ror Civilian Volunteer led by Banglamung Sheriff Mr. Chaowalit Saeng-u-tai were divided into 4 teams, and went to search every corner of the Pattaya Special Prison. Their task was to track down drugs, illegal items and mobile phones. Prison Blocks # 4 – 5 are the detention centers for Serious and Narcotic Related Offences, Block # 10 is for women prisoners, etc.
 
All 11 blocks in the penitentiary were searched, including the prison store, school, medical room and career training hall. In Block # 4, 1.1 grams of Crystal Meth or as called Yah Ice, many sets of drug paraphernalia, porn magazines and even some antibiotics which can be used to make the drugs, were found in 2 lockers of 2 of the prisoners.
 
The Commander of the prison Mr. Somchai Wimansak stated that further legal steps will be taken after this search.  There are 3,571 prisoners, 2,885 males and 686 females incarcerated in Pattaya’s Special Prison. The inmates way outnumber the officers, a total of only 60, and the maximum number of inmates the prison is designed to hold is 1,100 prisoners only.
