On Wednesday night, the DSI (Department of Special Inspections) Police led by the Director Mr. Prawit Chai-bua-daeng took a Search and Arrest Warrant issued by the Pattaya Court, to examine all the products and souvenirs stores along Pattaya City Walk, which runs between Beach Road and Second Rd. Officials had received receiving various complaints from tourists about counterfeit goods. After a thorough search, pirated products worth over 30 million baht were impounded from 5 stores. The items were knock-offs of famous brands of women purses, watches, and clothing which were brazenly on display, in defiance of the copyright laws. More knock-offs were even found hidden behind pictures on the wall. 7 women offenders were apprehended for further investigation, but they claimed to only be employees. Further investigations will continue to locate the real owners of these illegal shops.
