On Thursday, the Banglamung Police Investigating Inspector Pol. Lt. Col. Attarot Krong-rart received a complaint from Mr. Somboon, aged 28 from Burma. He was taken to the police station by his employer Miss Apisara Suwaradee, aged 41, to file a complaint that he was robbed by 4 men dressed like policemen on South Pattaya Road, at around 5 in the morning on Wednesday.
When his employer heard his tale, she deduced that the 4 men were not policemen at all. They stopped her Dish Washing employee and searched Mr. Somboon, then put him in the pickup and drove to Jomtien Beach Road, where they dropped him on the beach. This was not the way police conduct their work.
Mr. Somboon was walking along South Pattaya Road near the Chaimongkon Temple Traffic Light with his Burmese co-worker, as the restaurant had just closed. A pickup painted like a police or volunteer vehicle approached them, and 4 men jumped off the pickup and searched them for their ID’s and Work permits. His friend had his IDs, but Mr. Somboon did not have them with him.
He was then hauled off in the truck to Jomtien Beach, where the 4 men dumped him, and then took off with his wallet containing 4,000 Baht and documents. More investigations will be made.
