Banglamung’s Police Superintendent, Pol. Col. Somneuk Jangaid held a press conference on Thursday afternoon, to announce the arrest of a gangster who specialized in chain snatchings, Mr. Samahn Deweelor, aged 26 a local resident. He was charged with snatching a gold chain with 2 Buddha images, and was arrested with the evidence and the blue Honda Wave 125 used for the crime.
The victims Mr. Weera Kayantam, aged 37 and Miss Sumon Sa-goon-wi-park, aged 38 were able to identify the offender. The police caught up with Mr. Samahn after arresting a man called Toy, aged 17, who has already been sent to jail and awaits judicial procedures.
Mr. Weera was attacked on Wednesday night in front of the Tung-graad Temple, but he fought back furiously, and the snatchers Mr. Samahn and a man called Dtom, aged 20-25, were unable to snag his 1 Baht weight gold chain. The would be snatchers then fled the scene, and went to Laem Chabang where they grabbed a 1 baht gold chain from Miss Sumon, but they were caught in the act by a Laem Chabang Police Patrol. Mr. Dtom managed to flee the scene but Mr. Samahn and Mr. Toy were arrested. Mr. Dtom is the leader of this pack of thieves, and while the police were arresting them, Mr. Dtom pulled out a gun, opened fire on the policemen, and then managed to get away. Further investigations will continue.
