Cremation Ceremonies for Her Royal Highness, Princess Bejaratana
There will be an extra holiday on Monday, April 9th, when a royal cremation is scheduled for Her Royal Highness Princess Bejaratana, the only daughter of King Rama VI, and first cousin of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. This will allow Thais to go into mourning and attend her royal funeral. In addition, all establishments, state enterprise offices as well as all educational institutions are requested to fly the flag at half mast from April 8th until 10th. And During this period, all entertainment venues will be requested to play down their activities, and radio and TV stations will be notified to avoid entertainment programs.
On Monday in Sriracha, Sriracha’s Chief District Officer, Khun Wichai Samphantharat, presided over the 4th meeting for heads of departments and the integrated management committee. Also attending the meeting were representatives from the central government and the private sector. The main topic was participation in the cremation of Her Royal Highness Princess Bejaratana on the 9th of April. In Sriracha cremation observances will be held at the Sri-ma-ha-ra-cha temple in Sriracha, and the public will be allowed to give a type of wood flower to place on the site of the cremation ceremony at 4pm.
