A group of 53 drug addicts, 52 men and 1 woman, and some casual drug users, joined a rehabilitation program initiated by Banglamung District on Sunday. The Grand Opening was conducted by Banglamung’s Sheriff Mr. Chaowalit Saeng-u-tai and Banglamung’s Police Superintendent, Pol. Col. Somneuk Jangaid.
This program will help the addicts to move on with their lives, and become good citizens in their communities. The oldest attendee was 47 and the youngest was only 16.
17 addicts were from Huay Yai and 36 were from Khao Mai Kaew. An examination revealed that 36 persons were just consumers, while 17 persons were addicts.
Before the course ended, another examination was done twice, to determine the possibility of returning to the drugs. The first test showed that 30 of the attendees might return to drugs, with 23 persons cured, however, the second test showed no possibility of the people of returning to drugs again.
