On Sunday, Pong Municipality’s Mayor Mr. Pranerm Siriroop hosted an activity for 120 elders. The seniors traveled to Nong-wah Temple in Rayong to pray, and then went to get in touch with nature at the Herb Center, established by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirinthorn. The Herb Center, located in Mabtaput, Rayong demonstrates the many uses of Thai herbs, and the elders got a chance to learn about using the herbs at home.
The trip continued to Chantaburi’s Elder Home, where the seniors apprised the lives of the elders in the home, and got to show their concern. A Chantaburi Administration official gave the seniors a lecture about the elders in the home, and before leaving, Mayor Pranerm donated 4,000 Baht and chatted with the residents of the home.
The last leg of the trip was a cruise along the Pra-sae river in boats, where the seniors studied the mangrove forests along the river, and how the people in this area earn a living. This was to encourage the elders to help preserve the ecosystem and natural surroundings. The attendees enjoyed the trip immensely, and learnt a great deal. The seniors also had the pleasure of a dinner treat before returning to Pong Municipality safe and sound.
