The Songkran Celebration @ the Floating Market was full of fun and great memories for all the visitors. The Floating Market started the Grand Songkran celebration on April 13th with a Buddhist ceremony, with the people offering food to 9 monks who were floating on the boats. This was followed by a Ceremony to Pay Respect to 25 elders from the Elder’s Home Support Foundation, and lunch treat, before the real fun began.
The highlight of Songkran 2012 @ the Floating Market was Sea Boxing. These unusual boxing matches saw the boxers using their strong legs to hang from a pole, head down, while they fought, and the loser was the one to fall into the water first.
The Floating Market Songkran continued for 3 days, until Sunday, 15th April, with many fun games such as boat rolling competitions, bucket rolling competitions and many more. There was even a Songkran Beauty Pageant for children to win 15,000 Baht, and the tourists enjoyed many special price promotions to watch 4 D Movies, play games, and watch the Floating Magic Show.
