On Tuesday afternoon, at Soot-tha-wart temple, many Buddhists and local people from Mab-yai-lia, who live around the temple, got together to pour water on the Buddha images, the monks and the elderly, in order to summon fortune, success and prosperity in their lives.
The weather was brutally hot, but many people still went to participate in this traditional custom at the temple. The Mayor of Nongprue, Khun Mai Chai-ya-nit, also took his officers to partake in this custom.
The main place of the Songkran water play was at the front of the temple, where many boys and girls, and men and women driving their vehicles, had a great chance to get wet with the locals.
