As thousands of people celebrated the Songkran festival along Pattaya Beach Road on Thursday, the sound of gunfire rang out in the afternoon as one drunken reveler took things a little too far by shooting a gun multiple times into the air. Police were notified and an officer went to Soi Pattayaland 2 to confront 49 year old Mr. Khamlan still carrying a loaded firearm. He surrendered the weapon without incident and even produced a valid gun license. However, he was taken back to the police station for questioning. There he claimed he had no intention of harming anyone and admitted getting a little carried away. Regardless, Police charged him with expelling the weapon in a public place without just cause and possession of the firearm whilst in a drunken state.
