Naklua officially celebrated Songkran on Wednesday, and this year Pattaya Mayor Ittipol Khunplume and government officials made sure that the celebrations in Lan Po Park were better organised as in other years by going back to the traditional roots and values of the festival. Alms were given to 99 monks from local temples, and a water pouring ceremony to convey respect to the elderly took place as the highlight of the morning events. Then of course, everyone took to the streets and started water battles throughout the day, causing traffic problems in Naklua and beyond.
