On Thursday at Surasak Municipality, the Chairman of Municipality Council opened the first General Meeting of the Surasak Municipality Council. The meeting had many agendas to consider, but the main one was the Submission to Upgrade Surasak Municipality to be Surasak City.

The proposal needed the approval of a majority of votes from the People’s Representatives at the Meeting, which it did receive, so the Committee will submit this request to the Central Administration Level shortly.

Ao-u-dom Municipality was changed to Surasak Municipality in 2002, and now covers 5 sub-districts: Beung, Surasak, Nongkaam, Borwin and Khao Kaan Song covering 306.44 square kilometers with a population of 109,285.  Due to the rapid economic and physical expansion of Surasak Municipality, the Committee deemed that Surasak Municipality should be upgraded to be Surasak City, for suitable management in the future.
