On Friday afternoon at the Krua Surf Kitchen Restaurant on Jomtien Beach, the Bunsawat Family, led by Mr. Pattana and Mrs. Napaporn, hosted a Preparation Ceremony to Enter the Monkhood, by shaving off the hair of their oldest son Mr. Krisana Bunsawat. Mr. Krisana has grown to be a 20 year – old man, and is ready to serve as a Buddhist monk for a period of time, in accordance with the belief that this will bring great merit to his parents.
After shaving the hair, a Brahman ceremony completed the preparation steps, by urging the future monk to realize that the grace of being born was due to his parents. The Acting Mayor of Pattaya, Mr. Ittipol Khunpleum, also attended the ceremony to bless the young man. Then, on Saturday just after dawn, a parade took the future monk, called Nark, clothed in white garments, to the temple to complete the ceremony. A qualified monk completed the ritual, and Mr. Krisana was given the Buddhist name Kampeer-abhammo and entered the monkhood for 1 month.
