On Saturday at 1:30 am, the Pattaya Police Investigating Inspector Pol. Lt. Sirichat Nutate received a complaint from Mr. Morten Karres, aged 40 from Norway, and his Thai girlfriend Miss Kanitta Harnnongsaang, aged 33, from Petchabun Province. Miss Kanitta had been shot in her left arm while they were driving home to Bangsaray. When passing the Khaotalo Intersection, a black Toyota Vigo pickup with 3 men inside, approached the left side of Mr. Morten’s white Toyota Fortuner, and shot 5 .11 mm bullets into the car. One of the bullets hit Miss Kanitta’s left arm, then the thugs fled the scene by making a u-turn at the Khaotalo Intersection and heading towards Central Pattaya.
Mr. Morten did take his girlfriend to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya before visiting the police station. The officers believe the main motivation for this scare tactic is a court case Mr. Morten initiated against a person concerning some real estate business of Mr. Morten, and further investigations will be conducted.
