After Banglamung police arrested a man in a routine drug offence, it led to further arrests of two other people in connection to an outstanding case of an auto theft in Nakhon Sawan province in Central Thailand. Tanasak aged 29 was arrested on minor drug charges but a routine check on the national police crime database revealed that he was wanted in connection to a case of auto theft. Further questioning led to police tracing and arresting his accomplices Egarin aged 29 and Wasan aged 23. Their sophisticated caper involved them posing as police officers and would stop cars and claiming some form of illegality would impound them. If the owners did not comply the gang showed their real colours and would produce guns and take the vehicles by force. A full investigation is now underway to catch more gang members who remain at large.
